Also, the front has what appears to be two LAN LEDs, but it is only a single 2-wire cable, that is (I think) forward/reverse polarity for the two LEDs, which my motherboard doesn't support, so I only get one useable LED. HDD present/activity light pipes down the side of the drive tray work well and are plenty bright (blue LED for drive inserted and a separate green LED for drive activity.)īe careful not to grab the unit above the handle on the front as it is easy to accidentally press the reset button. Most of the time they lock in easily, but occasionally need a little bit of a jiggle to get the SATA connector aligned so you can slide it in all the way and lock it in place. The main fans are all nicely hot-swappable as well and slide in and out pretty easily, though the power connector for those fans is a bit difficult to plug in given it is sandwiched between the end of the fan rails and the edge of the case. Be careful plugging in the power connectors though, as those 4-pin molex connectors are hard to insert, and the hot swap backplanes have thin molex sockets (I broke the molex socket housing on one board, but was still able to carefully insert the power cable.) I recommend getting some right-angle molex adapter cables (9" is a good length to get them through below the fans.) Second best to Norco RPC 4224 Just filled up one of these cuddly little babies with 10TB drives, having kept it stored for a year while filling up my available server space. Six internal SFF-8087 Mini SAS connectors support up to twenty-four 3.5 or 2.5 in. For the price, this is a pretty good hot-swap case. 24x hot-swappable SATA (II or III) / SAS 6G drive bays. ![]()
